Jennifer Cisneros, McKnight's Women of Distinction Lifetime Achievement Winner for 2019

“Women of Distinction” Rising Star Balances Work, Volunteerism, Family

You recently learned about our customer and 2019 McKnight’s Women of Distinction honoree, Kim Estes Elliott, and her drive to make a bigger difference in senior care. Now, we’d like to introduce you to another customer, Jennifer Cisneros, nursing home administrator at The Williamsport Home in Williamsport, PA. Jennifer is part of the first class of Rising Stars in the McKnight’s award program. She and 20 other women – all under the age of 40 or with fewer than 15 years of experience in the senior living or post‐acute care fields – have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to senior housing and care at the community or corporate level, or through academic or association work.

The Williamsport Home is a Continuing Care Retirement Community offering 157 independent living apartments, individualized personal care programs, skilled nursing care, short‐term rehabilitation, and a secured memory care unit, as well as end‐of‐life suites and comfort care services. Jennifer manages and directs the day‐to‐day operations of Williamsport’s skilled nursing rehabilitation center, short‐term transitional care unit, memory care unit and end‐of‐life care suites.

Logistics Training Has Helped Improve Facility’s Star Rating, Reduce Complaints

Jennifer began her career as an automated logistical specialist in the U.S. Army in 2006. After leaving the Army, she served as a certified nursing assistant, an administrator in training, a unit clerk and an assistant administrator, while working to become a licensed nursing home administrator.

Williamsport received its first‐ever deficiency‐free survey and a deficiency‐free federal life safety survey under Jennifer’s administration. She also helped increase its star‐rating from a 3 to a 5. Jennifer is proud that Williamsport has not had a single complaint visit in the past year – and it’s been more than two years since it received any substantiated complaint!

Committed to Helping Others – and Being Present for Her Family

Jennifer chairs the Williamsport Alzheimer’s Memory Walk, as part of her volunteer efforts to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association. A member of the Salvation Army Festival of Trees committee, she raises funds to decorate a holiday tree. Those trees are auctioned off in early December, with proceeds enabling the Salvation Army to further assist members of the community in need.

Besides her full‐time job and volunteer activities, Jennifer is a wife and mother. She believes in fully supporting her children’s activities, so she juggles her work life to make that possible.

PointClickCare Eagerly Jumped On Board

As soon as McKnight’s Senior Living and McKnight’s Long‐Term Care News launched the Women of Distinction awards last December, PointClickCare was enthusiastic to share in the celebration of exceptional women working as direct care providers, managers, executives, corporate executives and owners in skilled nursing facilities as well as independent living, assisted living, memory care, and life plan communities. We were honored to become the program’s exclusive Platinum Sponsor, which helped enable the awards event in Chicago on May 16. If you haven’t already done so, take a look at the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Winner, the Hall of Honor, and the Rising Stars, many of whom, like Jennifer, are balancing challenging careers, family and community commitments.

Jennifer was featured in this McKnight’s article, and we’ll profile another member of the first 2019 Women of Distinction class on our blog in the near future. The spirit of this program perfectly aligns with our progressive thinking ‐ showcasing these industry leaders is long overdue!
