My name is Erin Sprando and I’m the Director of Operations at Marquis Companies. We own and operate more than 20 senior care campuses in Oregon, California and Nevada. At Marquis, we treat the person, not the disease, and put each individual’s choices and experiences at the forefront of their care.
Adapting to PDGM
Many organizations are struggling to conform to the new climate of changing regulations such as PDGM and the burdens it places on staff, processes and reimbursements. PointClickCare’s Home Health Care Solution Creates Efficiencies Across the Continuum of Care
The importance of a cross continuum EHR is that we create a lot of efficiencies from our skilled nursing facilities, our assisted living and then into home health. 85% of our referrals come from our own facilities. We can create a lot of efficiencies by not doing double data entry, pulling through all of our demographics, and then also being able to access records from our skilled nursing facility. Before PointClickCare was part of our home health software solution, we weren’t able to access the records from our skilled facility, and we’re now able to do that. Everything is available on the same platform.
Overcoming Industry Challenges
Home health care providers can overcome these challenges by developing a coordinated continuum of care. They must become more advanced in clinical practices to deliver exemplary outcomes while keeping costs in check. They must be able to communicate with other providers including hospitals, SNFs and managed care organizations. Health care partners need access to patient information to better coordinate services and payers, and referral sources only want to work with home health providers that produce the best cost and outcome data.
