International Nurses Day: Thanking Nurses for their Hard Work and Dedication

Today, we’re celebrating International Nurses Day, which is held around the world every May 12th, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth – who is widely considered the founder of modern nursing. The International Council of Nurses has celebrated this date since 1965 as a way to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of nurses across the globe.
As the baby boomer population continues to age, the need for nurses in senior care is increasing and those with expertise in geriatric care will be a hot commodity. While the number of individuals needing care increases, the number of nurses available to deliver care hasn’t been able to keep up. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 1.2 million vacancies will exist for registered nurses between now and 2022.
To help manage the imbalance between need and demand, our team at PointClickCare is focused on helping nurses be more efficient in their roles to maximize their outputs. We currently have several nurses from a variety of disciplines on staff to provide their valuable insights on the challenges faced by caregivers.
Our very own Melissa Jackson, RN, CEAL, has been a Registered Nurse for 22 years. As Director of Education, her team ensures all clinical and financial implementers and partner trainers attain and maintain their PointClickCare product certification. The Education team also disseminates product release communications to our customers.
