People of PointClickCare: Michael Keyes

What do plants, dogs, and ski patrol have in common? They’re all part of PointClickCare’s Vice President of Payer Sales, Michael Keyes’ world! Michael has been an integral part of the PointClickCare family since 2020, bringing his passion and expertise to the team for four incredible years. Let’s get to know him better with a rapid-fire session!

Rapid Fire:

  • Describe yourself in 3 words: Active. Driven. Extroverted.
  • Where did you go on your last vacation? In February, we visited Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, but our summers are spent at our second home on Cape Cod in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
  • Do you enjoy performing in front of an audience? I enjoy speaking in front of an audience but you’re not likely to find me “performing” in front of one!
  • If you were to write a book, what would it be about? Gardens and landscaping.

An Active Volunteer

In his spare time, Michael likes to keep busy with a variety of activities that feed his mind and soul. One of the ways he remains active is as a ski patrol volunteer, where he provides aid to injured skiers and ensures their safety on the slopes. He also volunteers for a boxer dog rescue and, over the years, he has adopted six dogs from the rescue. When he’s not spending his time volunteering, you’ll find Michael caring for his dahlias. His love for landscaping and plants is evident in his home on Cape Cod, where he tends to over 100 dahlia plants and many other flowers.

From Physical Therapist to PointClickCare

With 30 years of experience in healthcare, Michael began his journey as a practicing physical therapist and transitioned to the health plan space in 2005. He joined PointClickCare in 2020 through an acquisition. Since then, he has been leading the charge in driving payer growth.

One of the things he absolutely loves about being a part of PointClickCare is the incredible company culture. “Personally,” says Michael, “I find the culture to be the icing on the cake. We’re a group of go-getter professionals who not only work together to reach our goals, but also enjoy each other’s company and have a blast together.”

Real-Time Rewards

When we asked Michael what truly resonates with him at PointClickCare, he told us that it was helping others where we can. He emphasized that this is evident at PointClickCare with the impact that the organization can have on those who need it the most. “For our clients, especially our acute and payer clients,” he shared, “the value lies in understanding how they access care and how we can better support them throughout their healthcare journey.”

But for Michael, it goes beyond the professional realm. On a personal level, he finds immense value in knowing that PointClickCare is making a tangible difference in improving the care of others. The fact that the company is also helping caregivers work more efficiently is something he believes is truly unmatched in the industry.

It’s this sense of purpose and the knowledge that he’s contributing to meaningful change that fuels Michael’s passion and dedication to his work at PointClickCare.

The Value of Care

Michael says that one of the most significant challenges facing the acute and payer markets today is in continuing to add value and insights to healthcare providers in a world where data is more widely available.

With the industry’s increasing focus on value-based care, Michael believes technology can support healthcare organizations. As a long-time innovator in long-term care, PointClickCare is well-equipped to help. “Technology is critically important to surfacing necessary information to the right user at the time they can take action.” For Michael, now is an exciting time for PointClickCare as the company is positioned to support the future of healthcare. He shares that, “through recent acquisitions, PointClickCare is evolving to meet the demands of its users by bridging healthcare gaps to enable seamless transitions across the continuum.”
