Goodbye RCS-1: Welcome PDPM
The Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM) will fundamentally change the way skilled nursing facilities are reimbursed starting October 1, 2019. Gone will be the RUGs IV model that incentivizes the provision of therapy services. Decreasing administrative burden and costs associated with MDS management, PDPM promises to focus on resident characteristics in determining payment across services.
