My Journey to the AHCA Board: A Personal Reflection

I am so pleased to have been elected as the Associate Business Member (ABM) President and member of the American Health Care Association’s (AHCA) Board of Governors. The announcement was made at the AHCA/NCAL Convention & Expo: Delivering Solutions 23 closing ceremony, and it is an honor to represent all Associate Business Members in this vital role. I am really looking forward to taking on this new responsibility.

My Path to the AHCA Board: A Personal Reflection

I deeply value this opportunity to work on your behalf, and would like to take a moment to reflect on who I am, why I was elected, and how I intend to serve you and fellow ABMs on the AHCA Board.

As the Executive Vice-President for Health System Solutions and Government Affairs at PointClickCare, a long-time significant supporter of AHCA, I aim to bring a fresh perspective to the Board.

I have had the privilege of a career in national and global roles at the highest levels of the health business, government, and law. My experience in various national and international industry associations equips me to translate insights and amplify the voices of members for the betterment of the entire community. With the support of PointClickCare, my election paves the way to make a truly meaningful impact in our sector.

Our Future Challenges and Commitments

So, where do we go from here? It’s time to roll up our sleeves and get to work. My passion and commitment to the AHCA Board is driven by the desire to create a more inclusive table. I have the privilege of serving a remarkable and diverse community of ABMs, and I intend to champion your voices.

As we navigate the critical issues facing our long-term and post-acute care (LTPAC) sector, my goal is to make an impactful difference. There is a lot of work to be done, including addressing staffing challenges, resource and reimbursement needs, and tailored regulation. I want to acknowledge that AHCA has made commendable progress on these fronts, and I intend to continue its mission of advocating for vulnerable populations throughout my tenure.

However, there’s a pivotal shift ahead of us — the transition to national interoperability within the healthcare system. Our sector cannot afford to be left behind during this transformation. I bring expertise in this area and am committed to ensuring that we seize the opportunities that this change presents. I’ll be helping address the challenges ahead and driving actionable solutions to significantly improve care outcomes for all patients.

Unified in Vision: The Support of PointClickCare

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for your trust and support. I am excited and fully prepared to embark on this journey on the AHCA Board, and I am committed to making a meaningful impact in our sector.

I also want to reiterate that I’m not undertaking this mission alone. PointClickCare stands behind us with its extensive network of long-term and post-acute care providers, healthcare players, and dedicated ABMs. Together, we can advocate for our interests in Washington and state capitols. PointClickCare’s work and expertise will be a powerful asset in my role as your representative.

Stay tuned for updates on the work ahead, and let’s continue to work together for a better future in healthcare. Thank you, once again, for the opportunity to serve you.
