People of PointClickCare: Claire Stephens

Introducing Claire Stephens, Vice President of Migration. She joined the PointClickCare team as part of the company’s acquisition of American HealthTech (AHT) earlier this year and oversees the migration of AHT customers to the PointClickCare platform. She’s had a long history in healthcare, and we’re excited to have her continue her journey with us. Dive into this article to get to know Claire and learn what she is most passionate about!

  • Describe yourself in 3 words: Ambitious, Adventurous, Curious
  • If you could have dinner with one person, dead or alive, who would it be and why? My late grandmother, Mimi. She was like my second mother. Being able to sit down with her one more time to share where I am today and what I’ve achieved would be amazing.
  • If you could have any superpower, what would it be? Typical superpowers like flying and invisibility would be fun, but mine would be to heal cancer. I would love to be a cancer healer.

Journey to PointClickCare

Claire is a veteran in the healthcare industry, with over 24 years of experience. She began her career with AHT, supporting its loyal customers until the company was acquired by PointClickCare in January 2024.

She now oversees a team of 40 people who are working to migrate AHT customers to the PointClickCare system. Claire said it didn’t take long to realize that joining the PointClickCare team is an amazing opportunity and has been impressed with the resources available to innovate healthcare technology.

Her move to PointCickCare has been an incredibly smooth and supportive one, something she is extremely grateful for. “The alignment of our culture, synergy, and mission has been profoundly impactful in making this a seamless transition for the two teams and our customers,” says Clare.

Most Rewarding Part of the Job

Building trust-based relationships with healthcare providers and patients is one of the most valuable parts of Claire’s role. Reconnecting with AHT customers as they are guided through the PointClickCare platform has been rewarding because it has given the team a chance to get back to what the technology is about: helping people.

She believes it’s important that healthcare providers have someone in their corner who understands their business and will help provide them with solutions to everyday challenges. “I think in some ways, that trusted partnership really exceeds more of the product problems or product needs,” she shared. At PointClickCare, Claire feels empowered to build relationships in a way that drives true value for providers and patients alike.

On Leadership

There are several virtues that Claire holds to high standards, but the ability to motivate and inspire is foundational for her, sharing that “Leaders must not only endorse integrity but embody it themselves.” She also regards tact and audience awareness as crucial to effective communication: “A good leader is also a compelling storyteller, capable of aligning employees, customers, and the company’s ethos.”

She joined a local women’s leadership group in her hometown of New Orleans and leverages these conversations, insights, and learnings to help support women who are interested in pursuing leadership roles. Claire emphasized the importance of women standing up for each other in the workplace and offering mentorship as they design their career paths, noting that “It’s a privilege to support each other; witnessing more women assuming leadership roles than ever before is truly inspiring.”

Challenges in the Industry

The healthcare industry is currently grappling with several critical challenges, but the PointClickCare team is at the forefront of addressing these issues, with a focus on empowering value-based care (VBC) arrangements. And Claire’s confidence in PointClickCare’s ability to overcome these challenges rang clear, “Our extensive network, the caliber of our leaders, and the depth of thought leadership within PointClickCare enable us to engage with healthcare associations effectively and advocate for the crucial advancements in value-based care,” she noted.

This commitment to innovation and quality in tackling the industry’s most pressing issues is what sets PointClickCare apart, ensuring it remains a key player in the evolution of healthcare practices – something Claire is proud to be a part of.

Off the Clock

Based in the New Orleans area and as a graduate from The University of Southern Mississippi, it’s no surprise that Claire has a vibrant Southern accent — something that’s been catching on with members of the PointClickCare staff. “When we first started out,” Claire recalled, “I told everyone that it’s going to be easier if they just started saying y’all in meetings!”

For Claire and her family, sports are everything. She has two high-school-aged sons who are involved in baseball, which means there’s a lot of time spent both on the field and on the road for games.

When it comes to her own hobbies, Claire’s main sport is tennis. She recently started taking lessons to improve her skills. “It’s really fun, but it’s hard! My mother is a big player and hopefully I’ll have more time to commit to tennis,” she said.

We hope ya’ll enjoyed getting to know one of our newest team members! Thank you for sharing your story, Claire!
