MISSISSAUGA, ON – January 22, 2015 – PointClickCare, the leading cloud-based software platform for the senior care market, announced today that over a dozen employees from across its implementation, education and support teams have earned the Certification for Assisted Living Administrators (CEAL) designation. As part of its brand promise to offer an optimized customer experience, PointClickCare is committed to ensuring its dedicated team of assisted living professionals is CEAL certified. In conjunction with Ohio’s state-specific training, CEAL is a national certification program designed to enhance the capabilities of assisted living administrators.
“PointClickCare is committed to delivering health information technology that meets the unique and changing needs of our customers,” says Indira Jagernath, VP Professional Services, PointClickCare. “The greatest complement to our leading technology is the best-practice driven implementation services and training that we provide. With the ability to intimately understand the specific business challenges our customers face, we are able to be a stronger partner for them.”
The CEAL course is a combination of interactive classroom training, guided self-study and dedicated hours for hands-on clinical learning. Following the four-day training course, candidates are required to complete the National Association of Long-Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB) in order to be awarded the CEAL designation. The Ohio CEAL is awarded to candidates based on 100% class participation including completion of in-class quizzes, testing, and successful passage of the NAB Examination.
Currently, not all states require certification for assisted living administrators. However, CEAL has aligned its program curriculum with the NAB Residential Care/Assisted Living Administrators Licensing Examination so that certified assisted living executives meet national competency standards, and are well positioned for any future changes to state RCF administrator requirements.
“There are tremendous changes impacting the business of care for senior living providers,” said Kathy Chapman, Education Director, Ohio Health Care Association. “Pursuing this designation helps the PointClickCare team to operate as better advisors to clients, knowing not just the importance of great care, but the business associated with achieving it.”
The Ohio Centers for Assisted Living (OCAL) represents more than 180 residential care communities, caring for nearly 9,500 Ohioans. OCAL is an affiliate of the Ohio Health Care Association; the largest Ohio non-profit association representing assisted living communities, skilled nursing facilities, and providers serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. OCAL members are also represented by the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL), an affiliate of the American Health Care Association.
