LaVella finds her spark in connection, curiosity, and creativity. “I love traveling and being curious about nature and others,” she shares. “Being open‑minded to new things and meeting new people is what energizes my spirit and keeps my outlook fresh.”
One of LaVella’s most fascinating qualities is how effortlessly she navigates the social spectrum. “I think I am a good combination of both an extrovert and introvert. I know when to be the ‘listener’ and when to be the ‘speaker.’ Sometimes being present is just that, being engaged and present.” This adaptability serves her well in her role, where understanding people and meeting them where they are is essential.
When it comes to defining success, she keeps it simple: “Being happy with yourself and your life choices and learning something new.” This mindset reflects the balance of contentment and continuous growth that guides her in everything she does.
A Hidden Creative Talent
Did you know LaVella has a remarkable hidden talent for sewing? That’s right! She has even designed groomsmen and bridesmaid’s outfits. She says sewing “gives me the ability to create something from concept to fruition, I love being able to take it from a sketch to an outfit and see the results of my work in real-time.” This creative outlet showcases her attention to detail and her ability to bring vision to life—skills that undoubtedly translate into her thoughtful approach to training and customer service.
Three Decades of Caring, now in a Digital World
LaVella’s journey into healthcare began in 1992—that’s over 30 years of dedication to helping others! Her background in nursing provides the foundation for her current role as a Software Training Specialist at PointClickCare.
“I became a nurse to help others, and that calling hasn’t changed—it’s simply evolved.” In her current role, she creates training plans and schedules, then implements them with a customer-first mindset. “I get to know the customer by listening and actioning,” she says, demonstrating the same patient-centered approach she brought to bedside nursing.
What LaVella loves most about her job is simple, the customers. “At PointClickCare, I have the privilege of working with our customers and learning from them every day. The most rewarding part is when the customer learns a new skill and they’re proud of it. Seeing the results of our work help our customers deliver exceptional care, that’s everything.”
