Parker Health Group, a nonprofit aging services organization in New Jersey, has over 115 years of experience serving its residents across five communities.

To continue providing the highest quality care, Parker understood the value in investing in technology solutions to replace time-consuming manual workflows in their communities.

They had already adopted PointClickCare as their electronic health record (EHR), and needed a way to integrate new tools with a system they had already come to highly trust and value.

Thanks to this process, Parker has been able to successfully optimize many aspects of their workflow, with 12 integrations completed so far. This includes improvements in the documentation of vital signs through devices that automatically upload readings, and a digital fax system that reduced paper faxing, simplified records management, and improved their HIPAA compliance.

Integrating technology they were already using with the EHR has created tangible positive results. One integration, for example, resulted in a 62% reduction in the time it takes to chart vital signs and a 96% sooner response time to vitals outside of thresholds, equaling more time for quality patient care and the ability to reduce the risk of poor health outcomes for their residents. “Data integration definitely improved our workflow, allowing alerts to fire off timely with the PointClickCare threshold values,” says Kay Loricka, Parker’s informatics nurse. This in turn has given administrators and physicians clear visibility into interventions that support better care.
