PointClickCare Sets Industry Standard in Long-Term and Post-Acute Care (LTPAC) with New ONC Health IT Certification

Industry-leading vendor continually raises the bar for HIT in the LTPAC space

Toronto, ON – February 26, 2024PointClickCare Technologies, a leading healthcare technology platform, proudly announces it has received the Certified EHR Technology (CEHRT) designation from the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) which sets the standards for interoperability. This certification reinforces the company’s commitment to patient safety, improving health outcomes and reducing the cost of care – the core tenets of Value-Based Care (VBC).

The ONC Health IT Certification Program is a pivotal initiative that validates health IT products’ compliance with federal standards and criteria set by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This voluntary program ensures that health IT products meet robust technical and interoperability requirements, playing a crucial role in supporting federal, state and private programs, including the Promoting Interoperability (PI) Programs administered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

“PointClickCare’s ONC CEHRT designation signifies a commitment to LTPAC providers that we’re invested in their success, inclusive of any value-based reimbursement models they’re participating in. By consistently meeting and exceeding industry standards, we remain at the forefront of innovation, equipping our healthcare providers in the LTPAC space with the tools they need to deliver high-quality care in a rapidly evolving landscape.”

B.J. Boyle, Chief Product Officer at PointClickCare

PointClickCare has distinguished itself in the LTPAC space by focusing on the unique needs of operators, clinicians and organizations serving these vulnerable populations. The company’s ONC CEHRT designation serves as a cornerstone of VBC – particularly in senior care – where CMS requires that all reporting of healthcare data related to incentivized quality measures be submitted through an ONC CEHRT designated EHR. Additionally, any organization participating in a CMS alternative payment model such as an Accountable Care Organization (ACO), must participate in a Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS).

“Interoperability is a key driver for us, and the ONC CEHRT designation enables compliance with major federal mandates, including the 21st Century Cures Act and other regulations including HIPAA, and HITECH. Our Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) repository, built on the latest federal standards (G10), empowers the healthcare providers we support to share patient information seamlessly with third-party applications, ensuring real-time data exchange.”

Robin Roberts, Healthcare Technology Affairs Director at PointClickCare

The use of Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture (CCDA) allows patient data to follow them wherever they go, providing a meaningful snapshot of their health information. This real-time exchange of CCDAs enhances efficiency for operators, clinicians, and healthcare professionals, ultimately improving data capture and centralizing information for streamlined decision support.
