PointClickCare Debuts Expanded eInteractª Suite of Tools at the AHCA/NCAL Convention & Expo 2014

Washington, DC – October 6, 2014PointClickCare, the leading cloud-based software platform for the senior care market, today announced the availability of its Change in Condition Evaluation solution, marking a significant milestone in helping providers better monitor resident health status to support the reduction of hospital readmissions. Seamlessly integrated within PointClickCare’s electronic health record(EHR) platform, this eINTERACT certified tool evaluates resident condition and determines the best approach for managing and communicating changes to the care team. PointClickCare will be showcasing the eINTERACT Change in Condition Evaluation solution at booth 1101 at the AHCA/NCALConvention & Expo in Washington, DC, October 6 & 7.

Hospital readmissions costs and related CMS penalties have continued to skyrocket.  In 2011 alone, these cost Medicare over $14 billion. Health care providers are streamlining their business and narrowing their focus to avoid unnecessary hospital readmissions.  The new eINTERACT offering, an industry-first for the senior care market, blends the care management tools from the INTERACT 3.0 toolset into one updated and simplified solution.

“With each hospital readmission costing approximately 33 percent more than the initial course of treatment for that resident, preventing unnecessary transfers to hospitals and managing residents appropriately in-house is becoming more important for care providers,” says Dave Wessinger, chief technology officer, PointClickCare. “The eINTERACT Change in Condition Evaluation is unique to PointClickCare and we’re excited to be the first senior care software provider to bring this solution to market.  We’re committed to providing our customers with tools that will allow them to optimize their business and better manage care.  We have listened to our customers as they become more focused on strategies to reduce hospital readmissions, and we are excited to be supporting them with the right tools that are crucial to their success and to the health of their residents.”

The eINTERACT Change in Condition Evaluation is the only certified offering of its kind available in the market.  Through ongoing work with the INTERACT team at Florida Atlantic University, PointClickCare combines the INTERACT 3.0 SBAR communication tool and decision support care paths and care cards into a single solution. The result is a specialized “user defined assessment” – a comprehensive review of a resident’s condition with real-time notifications of practitioner communication using a standardized SBAR format. Change in Condition alerts also represent a new capability to assist in communicating changes to the rest of the care team through eINTERACT dashboard views.

“Combining these three tools not only simplifies the process for evaluating the resident appropriately, it also enforces the use of all of the INTERACT 3.0 decision support tools which have been shown to reducethe readmission rates for our senior home customers,” says Wessinger.

The industry is changing and PointClickCare recognizes these changes. Through tools like eINTERACT Change in Condition Evaluation, PointClickCare is able to connect the care delivery ecosystem both clinically and financially; provide a holistic view to all involved in the care process; and help improve outcomes by enabling access to right information at the right time, allowing providers to make confident and timely decisions.
