People of PointClickCare: Erin and Jordan Race

A Mother-Daughter Duo Making Waves in Healthcare

There’s something truly special about working alongside family, and at PointClickCare (PCC), we’re fortunate to have a remarkable mother-daughter duo who exemplify what it means to be passionate about healthcare. Meet Erin Race, VP of Professional Services, and her daughter Jordan Race, Software Implementation Consultant. Together, they’re not just colleagues, they’re proof that a shared commitment to improving patient care can run in the family.

Life by the Water—A Family United

If there’s one thing that defines the Race family, it’s their love for the water. Erin and her husband have mastered the art of living in paradise, splitting their time between the lower Florida Keys and Lake Erie. This isn’t just a lifestyle choice; it’s a testament to the flexibility that PointClickCare’s remote work culture provides.

“We live in the lower Florida Keys nine months of the year and on Lake Erie three months of the year, so most of our time outside of work is spent outdoors doing something in or around the water,” Erin shares. “We love to fish, dive for lobsters, and hit the sandbars. A perfect Saturday is a long trip on the water to Key West for lunch and cocktails, then a sand bar or two on the way home.”

Jordan, who lives in Tampa most of the time, makes frequent trips to visit her parents in the Keys. “Outside of work, I’m happiest anywhere near the water,” Jordan says. “I try to spend as much time as I can visiting my parents in the Keys and soaking up summers on Lake Erie.”

From Bedside to Technology—Two Healthcare Journeys

Erin’s Path: Three Decades of Healthcare Impact

Erin’s healthcare journey began in 1992 in a nursing home while working her way through nursing school. After she attended the first official PointClickCare SUMMIT as a customer, she knew it’s where she wanted to be. “Walking away from my first SUMMIT, I knew I had to work for these amazing people that had such a compelling vision of how to impact the lives of millions,” she explains. That was 14 years ago and every day I am reminded of why I chose, and continue to choose, PCC.

Today, as VP of Professional Services, Erin leads the Senior Care Professional Services team with a focus on making sure implementations deliver value for customers. “The most rewarding part of my job today is seeing our teams evolve and grow,” she says. “No matter how good something is, it can always get better. And no matter how bad something seems, there is always something to be learned from it.” Erin also mentioned that now with AI, the opportunities for PCC to provide even more valuable solutions to our customers and reimagine our own ways of working are endless.

Jordan’s Path: From Pandemic Nurse to Implementation Consultant

Jordan’s healthcare journey started while she was still in high school as a nurse’s aide at the nursing home where her mom had previously worked. After graduating, Jordan moved to Tampa during the pandemic. “I was initially hired to work on a PCU CHF unit but spent most of my first year working on COVID units,” she remembers.

The transition to PointClickCare nine months ago was a full circle moment for Jordan. “I’d seen through my mom’s experience how incredible the company mission and its culture are,” she says. “Getting the chance to now be part of the team building and implementing the tools I once wished I had feels like a full circle moment and I am so happy to be part of the PCC team.”

Jordan also maintains her clinical skills as a registered nurse. “I still pick up the occasional shift on a heart failure unit, partly to stay connected to bedside care, and because I enjoy the chaos every once in a while,” she shares.

Defining Success—Impact and Outcomes

Both mother and daughter share a similar philosophy when it comes to defining success, though they express it in their own unique ways.

For Erin, success is measured by outcomes. “My husband and I have introduced two outstanding productive people into the world who are both out there, making the world a better place through both their work and personal lives. And as a bonus, we all prioritize and love spending time together! If that’s not success, I don’t know what is,” she says proudly. ” I define success in my work life similarly. I have a team I adore working with and purposeful work to keep me connected.”

Jordan defines success by impact. “I like to ask myself, ‘did I make something better?’ Whether that’s helping someone feel supported, making a tough situation easier, or moving towards a goal that matters. Even if the outcome isn’t perfect, I’m proud when I can say I showed up with purpose and made a difference.”

PointClickCare’s Culture—A Consistent Thread of Caring

When asked about PointClickCare’s culture, both Erin and Jordan highlight the same core value: caring.

“I think the most prominent word that comes to mind is caring,” Erin explains. “While PointClickCare has evolved and grown over the years, one thing that it has always sustained is the caring piece. And that starts at the top. We care about our customers, our employees, and how we are impacting the world.”

Erin shares examples of this caring culture in action. “We’ve seen it during the pandemic when we dropped everything to help our customers provide better care, in how we celebrate our cultural differences, and in how we support team members facing personal challenges with the time and resources they need.”

Jordan, being newer to the organization, sees the same culture from a fresh perspective. “I’d describe PointClickCare’s culture as supportive, positive, and very caring,” she says. “As someone newer to the organization, it’s clear that people genuinely care about the work we’re doing and the impact it has on customers and their patients. Everyone works hard but is also collaborative, encouraging, and willing to support each other. Our culture isn’t just talked about, it shows up in how people treat one another and how leadership supports their teams.”

The Rewards of the Work

For both Erin and Jordan, the most rewarding aspect of their work at PointClickCare is knowing they’re making a real difference.

“Working to influence a team that has so much impact on driving customer success is truly exhilarating and gets me out of bed every day,” Erin shares. “It’s also fun when you get to work with great people. We work hard but know how to find a laugh, support each other when it’s hard, fail fast, and shift when we need to. These are the things that make work rewarding.”

Jordan’s rewarding moments come from being on both sides of healthcare technology. “What makes this job so rewarding for me is that I’ve been on the other side of the problems PointClickCare is solving. Losing visibility of our patients when they left the hospital was one of the hardest parts of my job. Now I get to help implement tools that fix these problems, work with people in similar roles I was once in, and know that I am still impacting patient lives.”

At PointClickCare, caring isn’t just what we do for our customers, it’s how we treat each other. And when you have a mother and daughter working side by side toward the same mission, that caring culture takes on an even deeper meaning.

Thank you for sharing, Erin and Jordan!
