People of PointClickCare: Elham Ghassemzadeh

Introducing, Elham Ghassemzadeh, our Vice President of Product Management! When she’s not driving strategy for her team, she’s a self-proclaimed foodie who loves cooking and spending time with her family. Let’s kick things off and get to know her better with some quick rapid fire!

Rapid Fire:

  • Describe yourself in 3 words: Purposeful, strategic, and responsible.
  • What movie, book, or TV show changed your life? I can’t pick just one! I was a bookworm and read a lot when I was growing up, including French and English literature translated to Farsi. I am sure all that reading influenced me in some way, shape, or form that has lasted to this day.
  • Are you in the profession you dreamed of when you were a child?I remember at an early age I was obsessed with being a nurse or a ballerina, or both. I guess working for PointClickCare brought me a little closer to one of those dreams.
  • What never fails to make you laugh? The silliest jokes make me laugh the hardest. My husband can crack me up easily, quoting silly movie lines. One of my favorites is from Princess Bride, “You rush a miracle man, you get rotten miracles.”

All About Elham

When she’s not leading her Product team to success, Elham keeps busy cheering on her son at soccer games! She also values her physical and mental health and ensures they stay sharp by exercising, walking her dog as much as possible, and she’s committed to learning Spanish and practices every night!

An Introduction to Healthcare

Elham has been with PointClickCare for a little over a year, but she had not worked in healthcare before joining PointClickCare. She shares that there was a steep learning curve joining a whole new industry, stating that, “There are a lot of commonalities in platforms and technology between healthcare and the enterprise domain. I find it incredibly rewarding to apply my SaaS experience in a new way and bring a fresh perspective to how we work here at PointClickCare.”

Elham also told us that one of the reasons she decided to move into healthcare was her strong desire to use her skills to create products that would directly impact the lives of patients across the healthcare ecosystem. Talking about our customers, she said “I see how much they love PointClickCare, and I genuinely feel excited when I can solve their problems and see how happy that makes them. The experience of working here directly feeds into my sense of purpose and makes me proud to be part of this wonderful community.”

A Focus on Technology

At PointClickCare, Elham drives strategy and execution for a broad set of products and technologies, which includes Platform Services, Marketplace and Developer Program, Interoperability, and AI and Data Platform.

Her team takes pride in building solid platforms that bring more agility and productivity to our customers and internal teams. Through Marketplace, her team is connecting people, products, and a thriving ecosystem of partners who work with PointClickCare to further enhance patient care.  She explains that they work hard to build and maintain the interoperability frameworks and services PointClickCare uses to “connect the right people with the right data at the right time to improve health outcomes.”

Empowering Future Leaders

As a successful female leader, Elham has a lot of experience and wisdom to share with her team and others aspiring to success and she focuses her time mentoring other females in the industry. She says at PointClickCare she has monthly conversations with the group she mentors and these discussions not only support others but help her feel more energized and engaged. “I have always been very passionate about DEI issues, specifically helping other women.”

When it comes to leadership, Elham is a fan of Daniel Pink’s framework which is about Autonomy, Mastery, and Purpose. She tells us that “it is a great way to allow people to show up motivated, do their best work, make the best decisions possible, and reach their full potential.”

Addressing the barriers women in tech face, or just women in general, she says her advice is “you don’t have to act like a man to thrive.” She explains that being authentic helps you to create your network of support early on and build positive relationships. She also says to never hesitate to ask for help. “People who help you, take an interest in your career and this is a great way to turn a mentor into a sponsor and find people across the organization who will help find opportunities for you and have your back.”

The Future of Technology

The healthcare industry is going through change and transformation, and so is PointClickCare. From a product standpoint, Elham tells us, “We are rapidly evolving in how we leverage technology to improve interoperability. We are using AI to solve problems better and faster. This opens many new opportunities to bring more value to our customers and their patients, improving health outcomes for many.”

For Elham’s team, their role is not only to see where the trends are going and make the right bets, but to also paint that future picture and inspire everyone else to move that way to make it happen. Elham predicts we are going to see an evolution in the interoperability space and a revolution as AI based solutions are adopted. “There is a huge potential to dramatically improve how care is delivered using technology. This is a rapidly changing landscape, and I feel I am kept on my toes, trying to keep up. While there is so much unknown, we do know it is a very exciting time to be in this industry!”

Thank you for sharing with us, Elham!
