Rapid Fire 🔥

  • Describe yourself in 3 words: Outside the box!
  • If you could be any animal, what would you be? Killer whale: top of food chain
  • What’s your go-to karaoke song? “The Gambler” by Kenny Rogers
  • If you could have dinner with one person (living or dead) who would it be and why? I always come back to Martin Luther King, Jr. While what made him wake up every morning seems obvious, the obvious isn’t always the actual. So, I’d really love to learn more about the ways he was able to persevere, both physically and emotionally.

Journey to PointClickCare

Hamad’s father, a dedicated neurologist who continues to practice at 75, was the inspiration for Hamad to pursue a career in healthcare. In 2003, he enrolled in West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and the rest is history! He went on to complete a surgical internship at the University of Tennessee and an emergency medicine residency at the University of Mississippi. During this time Hamad was introduced to PointClickCare via Collective Medical, where he utilized their ED Optimization solution on the front lines.

Hamad spent time consulting and sat on Collective Medical’s clinical advisory board forming friendships with several current PointClickCare employees. “When I learned the Chief Medical Officer position was open, I was very interested in joining PointClickCare. The company’s vision and purpose is one I really relate to,” he shared. Hamad officially joined the PointClickCare team in early 2024 and has quickly become an integral part of the organization.

Most Rewarding Part of the Job

While Hamad’s love of helping people and making a difference in the world made the move to PointClickCare a logical next step, little did he know he would find a team of people who shared his goal. “I love the people at PointClickCare, they’re amazing. We share a common vision of how getting rid of the waste in the system will change the way healthcare looks in the future. It’s really encouraging to see a group of people rowing in the same direction for a central passion.”

Hamad is also highly motivated by problem solving. The bigger the challenge, the more driven he is to overcome it. “Being able to provide software and technology that helps assist in solving these problems, and ultimately making its way all the way to the bedside, is incredibly rewarding and something that I want to spend my energy on.”

Industry Outlook

Hamad sees being at PointClickCare as the best place to make a difference. For him, there doesn’t seem to be one easy solution to all the things that are currently going on, but that challenge and the opportunity to solve it, is what drives him. “We need to figure out how to effectively navigate through a very complex healthcare environment as well as the social environments in the U.S. and Canada. I mean, if this was easy, there would be a lot of people doing it effectively. I welcome the challenges that exist and the opportunity to create solutions. That’s what excites me.”

On Leadership

Being part of a football team in high school and college, helped Hamad form his leadership philosophy. He recognizes good leadership is a give and take. “I think if you can listen well and work with the team, that’s being an effective leader. Speaking is important, but listening is a must. To get a perspective on the current situation and then thoughtfully determine alternative ways to address a situation, you must listen first and then lead,” he shared.

Off-the-Clock

Giving to others is a fundamental part of who Hamad is, sharing, “My father is from Syria. That’s my heritage. I have a huge passion for international missions. It’s something I’ve done in the past and that I’ve wanted to reengage in this coming year.”

He also believes it’s vital to have hobbies and activities outside of his career that allow him to relax and recharge. “I love being outside, I was born in Kentucky but spent most of my young life in Vero Beach, Florida. Now, I have a cabin in the mountains which is my happy place.” As for hobbies, he loves to play golf, despite not being very good at it, and is a devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves.
