A Journey Rooted in Discipline
Michael grew up in the suburbs outside Ottawa as the son of immigrant parents—his father from Singapore, his mother from China. His childhood was filled with diverse pursuits that shaped his future in unexpected ways.
“I grew up doing a lot of extracurricular activities,” Michael recalls. “I was classically trained in piano and deeply involved in music programs throughout high school.” These experiences taught him discipline and attention to detail—skills that would prove invaluable in his finance career.
After always having an interest in going into business Michael completed his undergraduate degree at Kingston University and earned his CPA designation. He started his career with prestigious firms like Deloitte and KPMG before pivoting “out of large accounting firms and into private companies,” including a small software company.
The opportunity to join PCC came through a contract position listing. “I happened to stumble upon a listing for a contract position with PCC in accounting and revenue,” Michael remembers. “And that’s what brought me here and I’ve loved it ever since.”
Making an Impact at PCC
Today, Michael serves as Senior Revenue Analyst, focusing on revenue accounting and managing relationships with technology partners. Beyond his core responsibilities, he’s involved in strategic initiatives that keep him engaged and challenged.
But it’s Michael’s involvement in the Change Agent Network at PCC that his collaborative spirit truly shines. “The objective of the network is to have a cross-functional group of people from every department participate in a monthly connect to speak cross functionally,” he explains, “so that we can enable and make change happen faster.”
This collaborative approach embodies what makes PCC special: bringing together diverse perspectives to drive meaningful change across the organization.
The Power of Great People
When asked what’s most rewarding about working at PointClickCare, Michael’s answer is immediate. “Right now, what’s most rewarding is the people I’m working with. I’ve got an amazing team to turn to for support and guidance when things start to get chaotic and knowing they’re always willing to help makes all the difference.”
This supportive team dynamic isn’t an accident—it’s by design. Support, guidance, and teamwork have been embedded into the DNA of PointClickCare since its inception. Michael says that the culture at PCC is unlike any other he’s experienced, particularly in how leadership balances ambition with humanity. “Leadership keeps us on a high performance trajectory while maintaining that culture of—we’ve got a bigger purpose here and work isn’t everything. We have to enjoy life too,” he explains. “The culture at PCC is very unique in that the opportunities for growth aren’t just encouraged, they are nurtured, honed, and developed. The leadership team is dedicated to fostering an environment where people can thrive, both professionally and personally.”
Beyond the Traditional Metrics
When it comes to defining success, Michael takes a thoughtful approach. “I try not to define success too much by hard milestones or a certain level of income or being at a certain stage in my career. Everyone’s got different circumstances and things that happen in their life that put them in different places.”
For Michael, success is less about reaching predetermined benchmarks and more about continuous growth, contributing meaningfully to his team, and finding fulfillment in the work itself. It’s a mindset that keeps him grounded and focused on what truly matters.
What Makes PCC Different
To Michael, what makes PCC different comes down to a rare achievement: the company has scaled from a small startup into a rapidly growing enterprise without losing its soul. “PCC started out as a very small organization but grew very rapidly,” he explains. “But what’s amazing is that somehow it has managed, despite all the growth, to maintain that really small, tight-knit family feel. It’s the best of both worlds—the resources and opportunities of a big company with the supportive leadership, collaborative culture, and genuine care of a close-knit team.” That combination has made Michael a devoted member of the PCC community.
